Impact: Design Academic Symposium
On behalf of my fellow graduate students at Miami University’s Department of Architecture and Interior Design Graduate Studies, I would like to extend an invitation for graduate students in the Department of Art to submit an abstract for consideration to join us at our annual academic symposium on September 28-29th, 2017.
The symposium will focus on the idea of “Impact” and the role it plays in our communities. We will consider how architectural ideas and processes influence the way in which we actively create and shape societies for the future. Art and architecture are both informed by creative processes, which are based in theory and practice. We would welcome the opportunity for you to share those ideas with us at our event.
This two-and-a-half-day event will offer a chance for Master’s candidates of diverse backgrounds to convene for a formal discussion and to share ideas among peers in an academic setting. Please kindly share with your graduate students. Attached is the announcement and due dates. Please forward all abstracts to one of the following contacts:

Impact: “The Force Exerted by a New Idea, Concept, Technology, or Ideology in Architectural Design” Academic Symposium

This graduate symposium presents a conference that emphasizes the concept of IMPACT, a force exerted by a new idea, concept, technology, or ideology in architectural design. As architects, designers, historians, and proponents of business and branding design, we will consider the IMPACT that architectural design has on the perception of space and place. How can conceptual architectural ideas and processes influence the way in which we actively create and shape societies for the future? The symposium offers the opportunity for interested individuals of diverse design backgrounds to convene for a formal discussion and to share ideas among peers in an academic setting.
Authors should prepare a 250-word abstract, with up to four supporting keywords for blind peer review.
Possible Themes: Place, Community & Setting, Urban Design & Planning, Adaptive Reuse, Healthcare Design, Education, Architectural Branding, Sustainability, Cultural Sustainability, Ecological Design, Theatre and Arts Design, Empowerment in Design, Philosophy & Theory in Architectural Design, Sociopolitical Ideals and other field related topics.
